Mozilla Firefox 7.0 version is available.The latest version of Firefox has the following changes:
- Fixed a rare issue where some users could find one or more of their add-ons hidden after a Firefox update (see the blog post)
- Drastically improved memory handling for certain use cases
- Added a new rendering backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems
- Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Firefox Sync
- The ‘http://’ URL prefix is now hidden by default
- Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis
- Added support for the Web Timing specification
- Enhanced support for MathML
- The WebSocket protocol has been updated from version 7 to version 8
- Added an opt-in system for users to send performance data back to Mozilla to improve future versions of Firefox
- Fixed several stability issues
- Fixed several security issues

The only reason to use IE is when there are crashes:
It is frustrating to see ones most beloved browser having these unexplained crashes of “Open Files” and “download” which have never been resolved. They happen in fact in any version (perhaps only after 3.6) and do not disappear after reinstalling. I just got another crash like that after using TuneUpUtilities2009.
Surely a problem of damaged registry, seems due to registry cleaner utilities (I had this before with all version > 3.6, but it disappeared one day with an update of 4.0, never the less now with version 7.0.1 it reappeared after only one cleaning, before it was ok)…
Someone must find exactly which change in registry is responsible because it is not version bound.

As a web Designer I face a very strange problem. the Input file field size differs in version 7.0.1. It gives me a lot of problem in giving a standard size to it, though the Input “file” field doesnt support css in mozilla firefox it was standard in accepting size=” ” attribute in other versions(4,5,6). can some one fix this problem for me.

latest # 7 crashes repeatedly when using stumble upon. have sent several crash reports in.will also crash when not using stumble upon and open new tabs/ pages.

The first time i heard that there was another browser other than IE years ago, i was besides myself excited. I search and installed Firefox then. Over the years it has had it’s complications however. The issue with it leaving an instance on and making the computer think it was still running, was obnoxious, but not a reason to stop using it.
With the more recent update, they appear to have fixed that issue, and it runs great. I haven’t really delved into the plug-in world, but to me that’s is only necessary when it calls for it so i don’t have much of an opinion about it.
All in all the best solution to someone who hate’s using IE, but not perfect, but it’s close enough for me.

Glad to see that I’m not alone on this. v8 is poor. MS poor. Not what I expect from Mozilla. I know that no-one is perfect, but… ah well, at least I know next time. Don’t install for a few months, until you’ve seen the reviews.
- Grey font on white. Agreed – it’s blatantly stupid. So in your face obvious, you wonder how the hell it got through.
- Add ons have gone. It would be helpful to have a warning box “If you hit ‘Finish’ and install, you will lose part or all of the functionality of ‘blah’, ‘blahh’, ‘bla’ and ‘blaa’ add-ons.” I’m gutted to have lost Screengrab and Copylinks amongst others.
