  1. I do never think of Internet Browsing without Mozilla Firefox. I am using firefox 10,11,12 beta etc. from three years without any trouble.

  2. Upgraded to Firefox 9.01 and chaos – hangs etc etc. So uninstalled and reinatalled (5 times so far) BUT now it will not run when I click on it… HELP!!! Love Firefox and tried all the options I know but getting tired now

        1. Uninstalled from Control, wiped with Ccleaner (including registry fro unused and invalid registry keys just in case), deleted all icons Desktop and Quicklaunch bar…. then reinstalled fresh (ie Not from exe file saved in Downloads

My brain is starting to hurt but Chrome is not as good and I hate IE
          Thanks

    1. find mozilla firefox in program files (x86) and delete the file:updater.exe Nothing bad will happen.
then go to tools, options, advanced, update, and set it to not update.

check these 2 immediately after you re-install Firefox 7, and every now and then.

there is a link towards the top of THIS page to download 7.0.1

Later versions really suck, and 7 seems just right.

      1. Thanks for taking the time Eli
I eventually and accidentally found what was happening. When downloaded the FF file did not leave the EXE extension on the Firefox file with the logo (the run command one I think) So I amended it, literally, to fiefox.exe and then double clicked… It works – Got V 7. Mind you, I cannot find the Tools button to do the other amendments Plus when you say delete the Updater.exe – I only have Updater NO EXE extension… all a bit strange but happier with FF than Chrome

If you got the time any response the last points would be appreciated

        Thanks

        1. maybe it is a toolbar issue that made the tools disappear… do you have view?
but deleting updater file is probably all you need to do.

that was sheer inspiration to change the extension
So much that i want to look in to other things you can do with changing them when things won’t open
          filext.com ??
          http://www.fileinfo.com/filetypes/common …common ones

its crazy, with FF7, still being the most stable. likely there’s stuff going on in the background with later versions that cause blocks and other havoc.

  3. Glad I found this page! Can someone put the link up to get version 7? I need my browser back , asap! Updated to version 10.1 and all my pages are text only. no graphics! I NEED HELP!

    1. find mozilla firefox in program files (x86) and delete updater.exe Nothing bad will happen, trust that.
then go to tools, options, advanced, update, and set it to not update.

check these 2 every now and then.

    2. You are ON the page to download it! I had the same problem, didn’t see it at first.
At the top, some info about 7.0.1, and in the end of that list, is the download link.

  4. I made the mistake of updating! Now all my pages are white with text only! I am very novice about these issues. hope I can get this older version back! wish they’d leave it alone!

    1. Go and reinstall windows 7.0.1, then
find mozilla firefox in program files (x86) and delete updater.exe Nothing bad will happen, trust that.
then go to tools, options, advanced, update, and set it to not update.

check these 2 every now and then.

  5. forgot: when you do re-download ff7 or 7.0.1, you have to go back in to program files (x86) again and delete the updater again.

  6. found out that if the tools/options/advanced/update settings don’t work, go to program files (x86), mozilla firefox,
    and delete updater.exe

I like 7. just changed it back last week, and in the middle of something a few minutes ago it switched me to 9.0.1 !!!!!!!
I’m appalled, like all you. Plus, it had checked auto update in above tools file, so we will see if the updater deletion 1) stays gone, and
    2) the unchecked box stays unchecked.

  7. i stupidly took the upgrade to version 9.0.1 from version 7..it is COMPLETE JUNK.so glad i found this download for version 7 to go back to.it works great.all my computers are back on this version and run flawlessly and faster than internet explorer or firefox version 9 GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER MOZILLA !!!!!!!!

  8. FF 9 is even worse than 8 ..I hate it but like mny of you everytime I uninstall it and reinstall 7, it updates itself right back to 9 and i am so frustrated that i am about to kick ff to the curb.

    1. To keep your ver. 7 from reverting to the ver. 9:

      click on TOOLS
      then ” OPTIONS
      then ” UPDATE

check OFF the updates button(s) and then click OK
